Mass Attendance Guidelines

*** NO PUBLIC BATHROOMS ARE AVAILABLE DURING MASS.  THEY ARE CLOSED.***

Dear Parish Family,

Father Manriquez is announcing the reopening of St. Joseph Church.  This is the next phase of Bishop Coerver’s plan to open gradually.

Following are the guidelines Father Manriquez will be using as we begin this phase at our parish:

  • Starting Sunday, May 31st (Pentecost Sunday) we will hold two masses:

       English Mass – 10:30 a.m.

        In the Church

        Limit of 60 People

        Spanish Mass – 10:30 a.m.

        In the Gym

        Limit of 60 People

  • The first 60 people (first come-first served) to arrive at each building will be admitted in.Please be aware, temperatures may be taken.Masks will be to be worn during the duration of the mass and cover the nose and mouth.Hand sanitizer will be available at each door.

  • With the limit of people allowed in each venue, we will continue to livestream on Facebook for those that are not able to attend (those with underlying conditions and elderly) or those who still feel uncomfortable being in close contact with others.Just a reminder, Bishop Coerver is continuing to dispense the obligation to attend mass until further notice. Our masses will be live on two St. Joseph Facebook pages:

              English Mass:   https://www.facebook.com/stjosephlubbocktx/?ref=

       Spanish Mass:  https://www.facebook.com/stjosephyouthtx/?ref=br_rs

  • The venues will be setup as follows:Every other pew will be blocked off, once capacity is reached both venues will be closed and no other parishioners will be admitted. No one will be allowed to stand in the parking lot or at the back of the church or gym.

  • During the Spanish mass, if you have a Cerio/Paschal candle please bring it with you and Father will be blessing those candles ONLY during this mass.

  • Communion Procedures:

  1. When you are coming up for communion, you will be required to use the 6 feet distance.

  2. The Body of Christ will be given in the palm.Receiving the host in the mouth will delay receiving communion as the minister will have to stop and use hand sanitizer before distributing communion to the next parishioner. Not only will receiving communion in the palm protect you, it will also protect our minister during this time of the virus. So, if at all possible, please receive communion in your palm.

  • The Blood of Christ will NOT be offered.

  • The Sign of Peace will continue to be omitted.

  • The offering will be collected as normal with the baskets.

  • – Ushers will dismiss you row by row beginning with the back rows of both venues.  Please go directly to your car!  Do NOT congregate and continue to stay 6 feet from others as you go to your vehicle.

  • The Pastoral Team will not be greeting after mass.

  • Handshakes are discouraged.

  • Those parishioners of 60 and over or those who have underlying medical conditions should stay home.

  • Communion will continue to be distributed to parishioners at their vehicles after mass.

Just a reminder:  In order to continue to have masses attended by parishioners you must follow these guidelines exactly as we have stated above.  Let’s help Bishop Coerver and Father Manriquez to continue to serve our parishioners as we move to the next phase of reopening our church.  God Bless all of you!  Have a safe week!

Pautas de Asistencia a Misas - Español

Querida Familia Parroquial,
